Posterior cervical fusion (PCF) is a procedure intended for the stabilization of the cervical spine and to relieve pain in the upper back through a surgical approach through the back of the neck (posterior). PCF involves the fusion of more than two vertebrae to form an internal brace and stabilize the cervical spine, stopping motion between two or more vertebrae, straightening the cervical spine, stopping the progression of spinal deformity, and reducing painful motion, spinal cord compression and continuing degeneration.
