The OSCAR™ product family was introduced specifically to facilitate the removal of bone cement during hip revision procedures using ultrasound to soften the cement shell holding the implant in place. Special probes are deployed in a sequence to collect and remove the softened cement from the host bone. The technique reduces manual force and is designed to reduce the probability of bone fracture and perforation. The technology is well accepted and has become one of the most commonly used products for joint revision surgeries where cement fixation is involved.
With OSCAR PRO™ the product line enters into its 4th generation. The new iteration of OSCAR provides an open platform from the well-known functionalities of cement removal and cementless prosthesis revisions to new functionalities such as specific osteotomies using ultrasound. The technology is designed to help HCPs utilize the system across a number of different disciplines, making OSCAR PRO an attractive solution for their complex orthopedic and other surgical procedures.
